Sensex up 250 pts; Midcaps outrun; PolicyBazaar, LIC shine

Indian equity benchmark indices held steady gains in Thursday's trading session as the mood remain upbeat on strong Q4 earnings and likely ease in global worries amid reports of possible Israel-Hamas ceasefire.
The BSE Sensex was up 250 points at 74,750 levels, and the NSE Nifty50 quoted around 22,680 levels.
Powergrid was the top gainer, up nearly 4 per cent, among the Sensex 30 shares. Tata Motors, M&M, Reliance, Ultratech Cement, HDFC Bank led the gains on the Sensex, while HCL Tech, Bajaj Finance, HUl and Axis Bank were trading in red.
On other hand, BPCL and JSW Steel were among top gainers on NSE Nifty 50 while Hindalco, Maruti, Divis Labs and Bharti Airtel were among the top losers.
The broader markets opened strong with both the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices gaining 0.61 and 0.44 per cent respectively.
Shares of Godej group stocks mostly logged gains post the family business split.
Nifty Financial Services, Nifty Pharma, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Consumer Durables lead sectoral gains on NSE.
